Peer Review Process
Afrocentric Legal Review operates a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality, objectivity, and scholarly integrity.
Initial Editorial Screening
Upon submission, manuscripts undergo preliminary editorial evaluation to assess:
- Relevance to journal scope
- Compliance with submission guidelines
- Originality and academic quality
- Ethical compliance
- Similarity screening results
Manuscripts failing to meet minimum editorial standards may be rejected without external review.
Double-Blind Peer Review
Eligible manuscripts are sent to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject matter. The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:
- Originality and contribution to scholarship
- Methodological rigor
- Legal and theoretical analysis
- Clarity and organization
- Quality of references and citations
- Relevance and significance
Editorial Decisions
Based on reviewer reports, the editorial office may issue one of the following decisions:
- Accept without revision
- Accept with minor revisions
- Accept with major revisions
- Reject
Authors are expected to revise and return manuscripts within the stipulated revision period.
Review Timeline
The journal aims to complete the review process within 4–8 weeks, though timelines may vary depending on reviewer availability and manuscript complexity.
